Noise – Overheating – Charging
Other significant aspects of Electrophorus that took considerable effort for a refined end result are: the Noise Level, Overheating indication and Charging.
Noise Level: Special attention has been given and certain trade offs were made so as to keep generator noise down to barely perceptible levels. This is a must for a subtle, mood setting awesome lamp.
Overheating Indication: Generator’s maximum output depends on many factors. One of limiting factors is the top working temperature, that is around 401 degrees Fahrenheit (205 degrees Celsius). The power output achieved from this maximum hot side *TEG’s temperature is again relative to ambient temperature (heat sink’s side).
So, when adjusting the flame to push a particular’s Electrophorus’ generator to limit, in a cool environment such as 20 Fahrenheit ambient, generator can achieve 7+ watts output till overheating, in room temp will give around 4- 4 1/2 watts and at very warm ambient like 115 Fahrenheit will output below 3 watts.
Overheating is indicated by intensely illumination of Gauge’s red LEDs
Charging: Electrophorus is a thermo-generator that has lighting fixtures. So why not having an output of useable power, i wondered. Finally i did it because I could.
